JOURNEY TO BECOMING AN EFT PRACTITIONER
JANUARY 2012: Started doing tapping meditations for my own health and wellbeing, in order to help support my recovery from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).
JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2016: Completed an intense 7-week online tapping course.
2016-2018: Gradually deepened my personal tapping practice by reading books on tapping and Energy Psychology.
DECEMBER 2018: Started introducing tapping into my one-to-one Youth Mentoring programs.
AUGUST 2019: Became a certified Emotional Freedom Technique Practitioner. Started deepening my knowledge of the science behind tapping to understand why it is such an effective technique, as I became more and more in awe of the results that people I was working with were getting. EFT was clearly the most powerful transformational tool from all of the techniques I was using in my practice.
FEBRUARY 2020: Became an accredited Emotional Freedom Technique Practitioner.
FEBRUARY 2020-today: The more I deepen my understanding of the research that’s been done in the field of Energy Psychology that EFT belongs, in combination with the sister field research into traumatic stress, the more fascinated and in awe I become of the ever-increasing insights and progress we are making as a human race in these areas. I regularly pursue various forms of professional development as an EFT Practitioner.
I’m committed to staying up-to-date with the latest research and developments in order to help bridge the gap between mainstream education and a trauma-aware, safe approach to teaching the wellbeing skills students and schools need to thrive.
Examples of workshops and courses I’ve either already participated in, or am scheduled to participate in, include:
- May 2020: Trauma-Focused EFT Workshop, led by chartered Psychologist and accredited EFT and EMDR practitioner, Christina Buxton.
- June 2020: Virtual Trauma Summit, hosted by Action Trauma (Belfast). Brought together the greats in the field of trauma research/recovery from traumatic stress.
- November 2020: Women, Trauma, and Mental Health: Empowering Women With the Skills and Insight to Thrive, online conference hosted by PESI (UK)
- January 2021: Intergenerational Trauma Conference, hosted by Action Trauma (Belfast), bringing together the latest development in the field of trauma research – namely, the growing evidence base that trauma can be passed on through generations on the biological, cellular level.
Professional EFT Practitioner
Eleni Vardaki is a professional EFT Practitioner, certified and accredited by EFT International. She offers individual and group tapping sessions to support parent, teacher and student wellbeing. EFT stands for the Emotional Freedom Technique, also commonly known as ‘tapping’. Tapping is a new self-soothing technique that combines modern Psychology and acupressure points to gently and effectively release stress from the body. Click here, and here, to read articles Eleni’s written about what teenagers, university students and adults can get out of tapping using tapping as a stress management tool.
WHAT IS TAPPING (EFT)?
Tapping, also known as the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), is an evidence-based method of releasing stress from the body. It is a self-soothing technique that combines Modern Psychology with ancient Chinese medicine. It has been shown to significantly reduce our cortisol levels, which is how it acts to release stress from the body. When we tap our way out of the fight-flight-freeze stress response, we can make wiser, more mindful decisions, because we act from the thinking part of our brain (the frontal lobe). It can also help us to improve our concentration and become more inner-directed (as opposed to depending on external factors, circumstances, people or rewards to motivate us and determine how we feel and act). It involves tapping on certain acupressure points on the face and upper body in an alternating sequence. If you’re curious to see what tapping can do for you and how it works, join me on Zoom in one of my upcoming tapping workshops.
