Therapeutic tapping sessions for cravings involves using your fingertips to tap on specific meridian points on of the upper body while concentrating on a particular craving or emotion. An EFT Practitioner can help you regulate your nervous system and work on reducing your alcohol craving triggers such as emotional triggers like anxiety, somatic triggers such as pain sensations, or daily stressors.
EFT TApping for Beer Cravings And Wine cravings
EFT Tapping helps release negative emotions arising from daily distressing occurrences that can trigger an alcohol craving. By tapping on meridian points while focusing on your craving, we work to lessen the intensity of the craving so that resisting having another beer or another glass of wine causes you less stress.
We can also address the underlying emotional triggers that cause you to turn to beer in times of overwhelming stress, which can have a more lasting effect that you just trying to think your way out of resisting having another beer or glass or wine with willpower alone.
MY APPROACH
An EFT Practitioner, I use EFT Tapping to help clients gain insights into what triggers their drinking habits. My services help you explore memories, associations, or beliefs that may be blocking your ability to change your old drinking habit.
My approach involves mapping out the somatic, cognitive, and emotional components of your stress response related to letting go of a drinking habit. We work together on identifying and clearing old blocking beliefs at their root, often tracing back to core memories from the time when you formed the belief.
Understandably, it’s quite common for inner conflicts to arise in EFT sessions for beer or wine cravings, as one part of you may want to hold onto the old belief that is holding your drinking habit in place while another part wants to be free. In this case, I typically ask if you to check whether the parts of you that are in conflict would be open to me guiding them through tapping exercises that address these conflicting parts.
These IFS-informed advanced EFT techniques can lead to a Cognitive Reframe where the client’s mind reconsiders how they think about the situation independently. To get an idea of what this type of therapeutic EFT can look like in a real telehealth session for drinking habits, click here.
