While I’m just 2.5 months into my postpartum journey, I’ve lived the first three studies myself (no C-section or single mom life here, so the last two studies arn’t relevant to my situation). In my experience to date, targetted EFT Tapping sessions combined with reflexology/targetted massage sessions have eased my breastfeeding anxiety and kept postnatal blues away as major parts of my recovery. They also helped me cope better with the inevitable stressors and anxieties that come with taking care of a newborn baby’s needs while my body was recovering from childbirth.

Solid research backs my experience up as EFT sessions are found, again and again, to be effective in supporting new mums and moms-to-be through tough times. In my case, I was able to work on my anxiety around breastfeeding and concerns with that while pregant in one of my online EFT sessions. As a result, I went into the postpartum period ligther and free from that anxiety related to breastfeeding. However, if this doesn’t come up as something to work on in your private sessions with your EFT Practitioner while pregnant, the research shows that it’s not to late to work on it after you give birth.

What also helped hugely was the fact that my husband who insisted on doing the night feeds shift in the first two months so that I could rest and recover. If I got up between midnight and 5am it was just to pump; he covered the more labour-intensive and time-consuming feeding, burping, and soothing to sleep part. I believe that extra bit of rest and sleep also contributed greatly to my recovery and postpartum depression prevention.

EFT sessions demonstrate meaningful support for breastfeeding mothers facing anxiety. In this study of 60 new mothers, participants in the EFT sessions group engaged in eight 30-minute sessions over four weeks, integrating tapping with oxytocin stimulation massages. Anxiety levels decreased substantially (Cohen’s d = 1.76), and smooth milk production enhanced significantly (Cohen’s d = 1.51). By promoting natural relaxation and oxytocin release, EFT sessions prove a reliable complement to lactation support.

The Effect of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) on Postpartum Depression: A Randomized Controlled Trial

EFT sessions serve as a protective intervention for new mothers. Among 136 participants, eight 45-minute EFT sessions significantly lowered depression and anxiety (p<0.001) and strengthened coping (p<0.05), with benefits enduring three months. EFT sessions play a key role in prevention.

Evaluating the impact of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) on Post-Cesarean Section Pain Management: A Case Study at Jemursari Islamic Hospital, Surabaya
