WHAT'S EFT TAPPING?

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) Tapping is a stress management technique. It’s currently being used in schools all over the world to support teaching and learning. Also known as ‘tapping’, EFT has been around for more than 40 years and researched now for more than 20 years.

It uses a combination of cognitive and body-based (somatic) methods to reduce stress. We use a tapping process with our fingers to stimulate acupuncture points on the face and body to effectively reduce stress. The 250+ published journal articles show it affects a range of biochemistry in the body (e.g., blood pressure, brain activity, cortisol, and DNA expression).

WHY ARE PEOPLE BRINGING EFT TAPPING INTO SCHOOL SETTINGS?

When students and teachers use self-soothing mindfulness tools like tapping to self-regulate and reduce the stress in their bodies, it can have a profound impact on the learning environment. More and more people are becoming aware of tapping’s effectiveness in helping cultivate a calmer and more socially cohesive environment in the classroom, playground, and after-school activities.

Bringing EFT Tapping into schools has helped with:

  • student and teacher well-being
  • teaching and learning
  • reducing student stress and anxiety (from primary to high school)
  • reducing test anxiety, panic attacks in tests or exams, and performance anxiety in after-school activities (e.g. sports, theater performances, etc)
  • improving students’ concentration and motivation to learn
  • improving students’ self-awareness and productivity
  • anger management, pro-social behavior, and emotional self-regulation
  • conflict resolution as well as reducing aggressive behavior and friendship problem incidents in class and on the playground

TAPPING IN SCHOOLS SUMMIT: MEET YOUR HOST

Eleni Vardaki

Eleni Vardaki experienced the British, American, International, and European school systems as a student. As an adult, she worked in both state and private schools in three different countries (Sudan, England, and Greece) before coming to the work she does now as an EFT Practitioner, Educational Consultant, and Youth Mentor.

From her experience as a student and teacher in different school systems, she gets the universal stresses and pressures students and teachers experience – irrespective of the school or education system. She believes that now more than ever, in the aftermath of the pandemic, teacher and student well-being is a top priority.

EFT Tapping is already being used in schools all over the world where student and teacher well-being are valued highly. She hopes that this free summit helps to inspire even more teachers, teaching assistants, school counselors, sports coaches, parents, grandparents, and school leaders to play with doable, age-appropriate ways of adding EFT to their ‘toolbox’. In support of their own, as well as their younger generations’ well-being.

“When the adults in a school make their own and student well-being a high priority, it becomes a calmer, more productive, less chaotic learning and working environment. Isn’t that what we all want…?” – Eleni
